The Pokeno Community Committee was voted in by the residents of Pokeno to facilitate our community’s vision for the village of Pokeno today and beyond with our Waikato District Council. We are a volunteer group of locals that are an endorsed committee of council.
With a rich history spanning many generations, the face of Pokeno has constantly evolved. From the Maori who first lived off the fertile land, and the Military who began construction of the mighty Great South Road, to the Early Settlers who developed the township further after the Gold Rush of the late 1860’s.
